NEW VEHICLE FOR CAPACITY STRENGTHENING

From the project “Strengthening of Municipal capacity to improve the quality of life for socially vulnerable groups”, to the City Municipality of Palilula were provided one off – road vehicle HYUNDAI IX35 2.0 which was presented to the public in the village Bubanj, in the presence of  members of mobile teams of the project and management to Municipality. Value of the vehicle, donated by the European Union from program Exchange 3, is 16.000 euros, without duties and taxes. On the basis of international agreements, donations from EU are not subject to tax and custom duties. According to president of Municipality, Prof. Dr Igor Novakovic, this vehicle is intended to strengthen capacity of Palilula Municipality in area of  psycho – socially and preventive medical assistance and creation of sustainable and integrated model “protection in community”, on-site, for vulnerable groups in society and activity of multi – disciplinary mobile teams.

New means of transport to facility work of mobile teams and competent services of Administration of Municipality on the field, especially visiting 15 settlements in the village area of Municipality and achievement of the goal of the project and that is providing services to the population. In this phase of activity services includes medical assistance of vulnerable population in time from 09am to 02pm, according to prescribed schedule: measuring of blood pressure and blood sugar, provision of medical assistance advisory, psycho – socially assistance and support, legal aid. All necessary information of using of free services of mobile teams of the project, citizens can get every day on the phone number 018/244-587 or in their citizens` offices.

City Municipality of Palilula – Nis, achieving project  “Strengthening of Municipal capacity to improve the quality of life for socially vulnerable groups” in partnership with Center of Social Work “Sveti Sava” in Nis and cooperation with Municipality of Kyustendil (Bulgaria). During one years work on the project, which is ending 22nd September 2011, through this kind of support, multi – disciplinary mobile teams will glimpse, on the territory of Palilula Municipality, socially vulnerable, old and infirm persons, children, disabled, Roma population and elderly who are immobile and depended on other peoples help. Due to great interest of population and feasibility of realization of the project there is possibility to continue with this activity and after ending of the project, this time with support of Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Government of Serbia.
It is interesting that Palilula Municipality in its fleet has and vehicle – van that regularly use since January 2007 for organized transport of people with special need and disabilities.

Program EXCHANGE 3, financed by European Union, managed by Delegation of European Union in Serbia and implemented by Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, represents continue of actions and measures focused on the introduction of the EU model in operation and improvement of capacity and efficiency of local self governments in Serbia.
